The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments and its Commuter Connections program (“COG”), and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (“WABA”) encourage you to always bike sober and responsibly. Alcohol impairment has a negative impact on a bicyclist’s ability to maintain balance, navigate in traffic, and perceive hazards. It also increases the likelihood of risky behaviors such as riding recklessly and fast. Impaired cyclists pose a risk to other vehicles, pedestrians, and even a greater threat to themselves. If you feel any impairment or get drunk, call a cab. Participation in any aspect of this event is voluntary.
